Understanding Home Care Costs
Understanding what you are paying for helps you plan with confidence. Here is a straightforward guide to how private home care pricing works.
How hourly care is charged
Private visiting care is typically charged by the hour. At Carekind at Home, visiting care starts from £30 per hour, with visits arranged flexibly around your needs — from a single weekly visit to regular daily support. Because you arrange care directly with me as a privately funded service, there are no waiting lists or lengthy assessments before care can begin.
Bank holidays and overnight care
It is standard practice for care providers to charge a premium for visits on bank holidays. At Carekind at Home, bank holiday visits are charged at double the standard hourly rate, which recognises my dedication to being there when families need me most. Overnight care — either a sleeping night or a waking night — is charged at its own hourly rate, so always ask for a clear written quote.
What affects the total cost
The total cost depends on the amount and type of care you require: how many visits you need each week, how long each visit lasts (my shortest visit is one hour), and the kind of support involved. A personalised care assessment will give you an accurate picture before you commit to anything.
Help with funding
Even as a private client, you may be entitled to help. Some people use direct payments from their local council to arrange their own care, and others qualify for attendance allowance or other benefits. I am always happy to talk through the options with you.
